Samsung and HTC to release Google Editions

29 May 2013

The Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One are the two of the best smartphones for your money today. Both devices offer spectacular hardware, software and features, received rave reviews over the web and are going head to head for the coveted Smartphone of the Year title.

Both phones were launched at the same time earlier this year with record-breaking sales; the S4 has sold 10 million units in one month, and 5 million units for the HTC One.

But their successful launch was only the beginning.

One of the biggest announcements at the Google I/O 2013 Conference held earlier this month was the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition, responding to customers who don't want the fancy Touchwiz software that sits atop the amazing hardware of the S4.

About a week later, HTC announced that it will also release a Google Edition variant of its HTC One, also known as the "Senseless" phone due to the removal of the HTC Sense user interface (UI).

Whether this is an indication that Google is moving away from the traditional Nexus line or the smartphone wars have just taken into newer heights, this is an absolute treat for consumers: stock Android on two of the most powerful and popular smartphones in the market to boot!

But some consumers in the market for new phones this year are stumped into deciding whether they should hold off the current offering and wait for the Google Editions to come out in another few months.
